6-a-side football tournament

Westland High School Juniors recently played in a Football tournament in Greymouth.

Westland High School juniors fielded two teams to play in the tournament, held at the Greymouth Hockey Turf, on 22 May. A great bunch of juniors working together to represent the school well and play some great football on the way.

For the statistically minded:

• 32 teams

• 6 boys/6 girls/16 mixed

• 14 Westland /18 Grey District teams.

• 256 players (118 girls/134 boys)

• 87 games played in 4 hours

• 261 goals scored

• Incidents 0

Our teams finished 2nd in the first mixed division and 3rd in the second mixed division, but more importantly played with great sportsmanship and great determination.
