ShowQuest
Our ShowQuest students and teacher achieved the most amazing results at ShowQuest this year.
If you want to know what the face of proud is, just look to Mrs Ikiua every time she talks about the students who attended ShowQuest.
In early May a group of 29 girls and 1 lone wolf traveled to Nelson to compete in the 4th annual ShowQuest competition. This is Westland High School's 3rd entry and for the first time they competed in the Nelson region.
ShowQuest is a dance competition run nationwide and this year over 200 schools competed. There is no set theme and each year the individual school chooses their own theme.
The Westland High School's group focus this year was celebrating 60 years of New Zealand television. As the group went further back in time, so did the main actress. There was Westside gangster, Police Ten-7 lineups, roller skating rink boogies, Shortland St dramas and some TV commercials thrown in for good measure, all ending with the Goodnight Kiwi to send us to bed.
Not only did Westland High School win 2 category awards- Best use of the video wall and Best use of props, but we also came SECOND overall!
A massive congratulations to all of the students involved and here's to aiming for another fabulous performance next year.
