Junior SISS Basketball

On Friday the 26th of August the WHS year 9 and 10 team arrived in Nelson for the Junior SISS Baketball tournament.

After exploring the Tahuna Holiday park where we were staying for the first two nights we had an early dinner and headed in to watch the Tauihi Basketball Semis. We all scored new basketballs and Max was chosen to attempt the half shot at ¾ time. Although his two attempts were extremly close unfortuately he didnt sink it to win the $200.

On Saturday the tournament began. With two games a day for the next two days most of our time was spent hanging at the courts, meeting lots of new people and making new friends. On Monday we only had one game in the morning so got to spend the afternoon chilling and having fun in the pool. Jake spent some time contently teaching Alexander how to pop a manu and our laughs were heard from miles away. We kindly encouraged him by splashing up the water to make it look like he had aced it. Afterwards we warmed up by chilling in the spa then playing bullrush on the air pillow.

Unfortunately we came away with no wins but were competitive in all games and fought hard until the end. We were winners in having an awesome experience, developing our skills and having a lot of fun. If you ever get the opportunity to go on a trip like this, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
