Congratulations to Scott and Jack Matthews

Jack and Scott recently competed in the South Island Woodchopping Championship.

Congratulations to Scott and Jack Matthews who continue to inspire us with their achievements. They recently competed in the South Island Woodchopping champs in Invercargill. They were second in the junior double saw, Jack was first in the junior standing, with Scott getting third and Jack got first in the single saw, with Scott getting third.

Jack won the Hateley Trophy for Most Points for the U21's, for the second year in a row for him.

They were also a part of the winning Coast-Buller team that won the Curtain Cup. The last time Coast won this was 22 years ago.

Both boys have also been named as 2 of ten competitors in the 'Rookies' division (under 25) in the Stihl Timbersport Competition held in Palmerston North in 8th and 9th March. They are the youngest competitors in the competition. They will be competing in Underhand, standing, stock- sawing, single sawing and springboard (where they 'climb' the tree) event. This event may also be televised on Sky.

This year the two brothers may also have a chance at going to the World championships in France. To get to go to either the Champion's Trophy in Paris or the World Championship, in Toulouse, the competitors need to win, or place in the top three of the Stihl Timbersport Competition and if for some reason, the winner cannot attend, then the trip is offered to the next place-getter.
