Term two is now into week two and how time has flown by. NCEA students have already completed their first set of assessments and have experienced a range of positive results, well done to you all. The school is in good heart as our roll is stable, and it's great to see and feel the buzz around the school as our students actively participate in a range of academic, sporting and fun activities, Not withstanding the excitement with the blessing and opening of the Hall/Admin and Dance/Drama/Music suite scheduled for Monday 16th May.

As we continue to move through term two, I would like to take the time to thank the school community for your ongoing support for our school coaching teams, driving vans, and fundraising etc., your positive feedback and support are greatly appreciated and adds value to what we are looking to achieve with our students.
Recently, Margaret Duggan, a past staff member passed away. Margaret was a strong supporter of Westland High School and many staff and community members remember her well, as I'm sure students too. We will continue to remember her fondly and send her family our condolences.
From Monday the 16th of May, the school reception will move to the new building, we are excited to have the facility finally available for the students, staff, and community to access and use. This has been a long six-year wait.
Reminder - Teacher Only Days
Friday 20th May.
Westland High School will be closed on Friday 20th May, this is a Ministry of Education teacher accord day that allows time for Secondary school and teachers to work through the complexities of the new NCEA changes in readiness for implementation in 2023.
Friday 3rd June.
There will be no school on the 3rd of June as all Primary and Secondary schools in Hokitika, Ross and Kaniere have a teacher only day, this is a combined day with all schools working together across Restorative Practices, and Literacy.
