As this is the last newsletter for the year, the staff and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday.
The school year has rapidly come to an end, senior students have completed NCEA and senior prizegiving finished. We celebrated the Year 7 to 10 final prize giving assembly today.
Our students and staff have shown huge resilience again this year under difficult and challenging circumstances and we thank everyone for the tremendous support provided during the year.
Enrolments for 2023 are again strong with students enrolling from outside the district along with student enrolments from our contributing schools.
We say farewell to Ms Holly McKee who filled in for Mr Lee during term three and four, we wish Holly all the best for 2023. We also say farewell to Ms Krohn who returns to Nelson, we wish her all the best, and to Mr Shawcross who is heading to Queenstown. We also welcome back Ms O'Malley who will be teaching English again and our new Classics / English teacher Ms Callaghan coming to us from Christchurch.
Congratulations to Ms Bateup who will be the new Senior school Academic and Pastoral Leader for 2023 and to Mr Talbot who will be the new Middle School Academic Pastoral Leader for 2023.
The opening of the Hall this year has been an absolute blessing with the Ball, NCEA, assemblies and Prize giving's all returning to Westland High School in one place, this is a truly wonderful facility that will serve generations to come.
The final two projects for completion next year are the adornments for the new Whare and completing of the sports fields.
At the final senior assembly of 2022 we said farewell to our year 13 cohort, you will all be missed and are welcome to come back and visit any time, also thank you to our Head students for the awesome leadership you have shown over the year and we welcome our incoming Head students for 2023.
