International student farewells

This week is the last week at Westland High School for Annikki and Alicia.

We are saying farewell to Annikki from Switzerland and Alicia from Germany.  Annikki arrived in July 2023 and has embraced her life here at Westland and has many Hokitika friends. 

She has had some amazing experiences, a trip around the South Island, many Outdoor Education adventures, trips away with her host family. During the summer her parents visited and she was able to show them her the beauty of the West Coast that she has experienced.

Alicia came to us in January and has been taking part in our Outdoor Education programme along with attending the Creative Fibres group and also having some incredible trips away with her host family.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our hosts, Monica Hulme, Ino Kelderman, Sharon and Tony McNish and their daughters Kate and Victoria. The kindness and attention they have shown our visitors does not go unnoticed.

Thanks also to our fabulous international student buddies, Georgia Ritchie and Clare Peters. Having a buddy when you first arrive in a new school is so helpful and makes our international students' first days a lot easier.
