Meet Miss Liu our new teacher of Mathematics

We welcome Miss Liu to our teaching team from Christchurch. Miss Liu is highly qualified in a number of areas, and has had experience in a number of Christchurch schools.

My name is Shuangqiu Liu. I originally come from China and have just moved to Hokitika recently from Christchurch, where I have been working for the last few years. I have University qualifications in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Economics. I personally believe a well-rounded education benefits all learners and enables them to fulfill their potential.

I am thankful for the opportunity to teach mathematics at Westland High School. As I get to know our students, I hope to become the kind of teacher who can inspire a love of learning. I cannot wait to be a part of creating an authentic, high quality education for all our students. I look forward to accompanying students on their mathematics discoveries day by day.

One student asked me whether I speak “Chinese” the other day and was interested in learning. I am capable of teaching Manderin at any level and hope to be able to offer that in the future. Challenge your children with another language, it has so many benefits!
