Shave for a cure

This years Shave for a cure efforts surpassed everyone's expectations and so far has raised $6946.00! You can still donate to this cause. Follow the link in the article.

This year the Runanga Tauira (Student council) set themselves a goal to raise more funds for Shave for a Cure than they managed last year. The total last year was almost 3000.00! So it was a tall ask but everyone was keen to give it a go.

To get us there we held a non uniform day, door sales to the event, leg waxing, hair cuts and full head shaves too. We had many brave staff and students who put their hands up to help raise money for this very important cause. Everyone was enthusiastic but no one could have foreseen the tremendous response the school and community have shown for the event. $6946.00 is a huge effort for a small school and shows how close to our hearts this cause is.

Every day eight people in New Zealand are diagnosed with a form of Blood cancer. That is a staggering amount of people. So many of us will have met, or know someone at some point who has been affected in some way. We are so very thankful to everyone who helped donate to this important cause, especially Both Worlds Barber Co, for stepping in to help save the day. We could never have managed to get through all the Shaves on the day without their help.
