Tuia Wananga
The Westland High School students recently attended a Tuia wānanga at Arahura Marae.
Tuia Te Tai Poutini is a non-profit organisation that aims to support Rangatahi Māori of Te Tai Poutini through wānanga and projects to build a strong positive sense of themselves as Māori young people.
35 students participated from Westland High School and school's from; Greymouth, Westport, Reefton, Nelson and Twizel.
As part of the wānanga they attended a presentation on the teenage brain by Nathan Mikaere-Wallis, a neuroscience educator. They also took part in the local awa restoration project.
